Officially Opening the 2022 Investment National Coordination Meeting, President Jokowi Emphasizes the Importance of Maintaining Investor Confidence
In his direction, President Joko Widodo emphasized the current global situation which is very difficult for all countries, including developed countries. Therefore, the government must be very careful in determining the applicable policies, both fiscal and monetary policies.
Therefore, President Jokowi reminded the importance of maintaining investor confidence, due to increasingly tough competition to attract investment. According to President Jokowi, all countries need investment to increase capital inflows into the country so that economic growth can occur.
“Because we have earned the trust, we have earned the trust. Now how about the implementation of the policies that we have taken. Don’t let anyone get distracted.
The trust that we have earned, should not be lost because we mistreat, mistreat the investment that comes into our country. Because of the intense competition in seizing investment, “said President Jokowi.
Meanwhile, Bahlil said that the theme of the 2022 Investment National Coordination Meeting was raised in line with President Joko Widodo’s big vision regarding economic transformation through downstreaming.
According to Bahlil, downstream is carried out not only to benefit large entrepreneurs or investors, but also collaboration with regional entrepreneurs and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the regions so they can grow together.
Bahlil also reported that this activity was carried out in the context of coordinating with the Investment Services and One Stop Integrated Services (DPMPTSP) throughout Indonesia regarding achieving investment targets.
Bahlil is optimistic that he will achieve the 2022 investment realization target of IDR 1,200 trillion. Where up to the third quarter of 2022, investment realization has reached IDR 894 trillion or 74.4% of the target given.
“We are debating, we are asking for input so that what is in the mind of the center really reflects what is the aspiration of the regions. Because we believe Mr. President, we at this center sometimes feel that we know ourselves best. But actually it is the regions that know best. Because they are in the field,” said Bahlil.
Furthermore, Bahlil said that the results of the joint consolidation with the local government and DPMPTSP produced several recommendations, including those related to the direction of the central government’s policy regarding downstream which was considered appropriate and had to be maintained, even though there were parties who wanted to intervene.
“Including the WTO, Mr President. So, they say that our country should not be regulated. Therefore, they obey what the President said to continue downstream,” said Bahlil.
Furthermore, through collaboration with DPMPTSP throughout Indonesia, Bahlil also said that the Ministry of Investment/BKPM together with the local government agreed that the investment realization target in 2023 of IDR 1,400 trillion could also be achieved on condition that there is global stability and good political stability in Indonesia.
